The Voice Of Kent County Education Employees
Because of the COVID-19 Outbreak KCEA Office Is Closed To The Public.

Welcome to KCEA - MEA - NEA

KCEA represents over 6,000 teachers and other school professionals who work for 21 public school districts in Kent County, Michigan and Thornapple Kellogg Public Schools (in Barry County).  Affiliated with the Michigan Education Association and the National Education Association, KCEA's mission is to ensure that the education of our students and the working environments of our members are of the highest quality.

Through collective action, KCEA is dedicated to the purpose of serving our member’s employment goals, interests and needs, while advocating for quality public education.  By so doing, KCEA is committed to creating and maintaining an effective education system that:
  • Supports the development of successful, empowered students.
  • Advances the principles of democracy, human and civil rights.
  • Meets the needs of our global society.
  • Improves the quality of life for all.

Members' locals are part of KCEA’s Congress delegation, consisting of their local President and proportional representatives to their member’s size.  Congress meets once a month during the school year.  Congress elects all officers who serve two year terms and elects at-large delegates to serve KCEA’s Executive Board, which meets also monthly.

KCEA is a Multiple Association Bargaining Organization (MABO) and works to make collective decisions county wide.  KCEA maintains the collective bargaining rights of all constituent school districts through its Bargaining Committee, charged with setting “District minimum acceptable standards of contract settlement.”  Also, has the power to recommend and approve all local tentative agreements before ratification.

Welcome members, our foremost goal is to serve you.
